Phaona is Akela's grandson in the CGI-TV-series. He's always jealous of Mowgli and tries to ban him from the pack.

Personality[]

Phaona has been jealous of Mowgli ever since he came into the pack and tries to get the man-cub removed, but fails every time which leads him into trouble. He is also deceitful, this negative quality is seen in The Race when he didn't tell the pack what happened during the contest, and is seen again in Phaona's Nasty Trick.

In Snake Bite, Phaona is shown to be selfish as he wanted to be pack leader so badly as he was willing to let Akela perish from snake poisoning, but in the end, he admitted his mistake. Again in Temple of the Wolf, where he tried to get rid of his follow pack members during their journey to the temple. He locked them up and even though he saw it, he didn't help Lali when she nearly fell to her death.

With the strong dislike for Mowgli and unlike the other wolves, Phaona is a bit racist towards his adoptive brother even mocking his appearance in The Race.

Biography[]

The Jungle Book (TV series)[]

Phaona is an Indian wolf who is the grandson of Akela who dislikes Mowgli for being in a wolf pack, so he tries every attempt to expel the adopted human from the pack, and will stop at nothing to attempt becoming the next pack leader. Phaona's plots tend to backfire and he tends to get punished by his grandfather.

Trivia[]

  • Phaona is actually an original character from the books, but is not Akela's grandson in any way (although he does have a son named Phao).
